BUNNY COOPER GOES TO CYPRUS

Hello friends,

Bunny Cooper is off on his travels again, this time it's to the island of Cyprus, near Greece.

The weather in Cyprus is nice and warm most of the year round, even in the winter it's not so cold.

AGIOS LAZAROS

The lovely church of Agios Lazaros was built in the 9th century, that is a very long time ago. It was built to commemorate Lazarus, do you remember who he was? In the Bible he was raised from the dead by Jesus, it is said that he became the Bishop (head of the church) of Larnaka. His bones are in a box inside the church, which is also very lavishly decorated with many icons of holy saints. It is a very peaceful place inside, cool and quiet, if you ever go to Cyprus friends you should make the journey to this place.

Even in Larnaka there is graffiti

BUNNY COOPER GOES TO SCOTLAND

Bunny Cooper went to Braemar Castle with his friend Coco The Fashionista, they sat on a canon-that's a very old weapon which fires canonballs.

Inside the castle

In the dining room, set for dinner

Bunny C and Coco had their photo taken with another friend inside Braemar Castle

Flying up to Edinburgh in Scotland, Bunny Cooper and his friend Coco (the Fashionista) were excited to go and visit Braemar Castle. The castle has been the home of the Farquharson Clan since the 18th century. Do you know what a clan is friends?

"Scottish Clans were originally families, relatives, allies and neighbours who came together for protection against mutual enemies.  The word clan comes from the Gaelic word for children and was first used to describe these groupings around geographical areas probably during the 13th century".

You can find out more about the castle and the clans here:

This is the local butchers shop in Braemar

Here they are at Kindrochit Castle, which was built in the 14th century when Robert II was king of Scotland-that means it is very old indeed.

This is a likeness of a brooch which was found in the ruins of the castle in the 1920's and has inscribed (written) on it "I am in place of a friend". We don't know who the brooch belonged to or what the words mean. It is currently in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

Our pals have enjoyed their trip to Braemar

Time to move on

Bunny C has travelled on to Balmoral, which is the Scottish home of the royal family (Queen Elizabeth II) it looks like something out of a fairy tale doesn't it?

This is someone wearing the traditional Scots kilt, each pattern is called a tartan and each tartan belongs to a clan of Scotland (remember I said a clan is a large family)?
The small bag worn around the waist is called a sporran, I guess they keep all their everyday items in there like tissues, bus tickets or spare change.

Some flowers in the gardens of Balmoral

A very old carriage

Bunny Cooper and Coco were quite tired from walking around and decided to stop and have some tea and scones

Yummy scones in Balmoral

Still taking photos Bunny?

The pals travelled on to Scone, and visited Scone  Castle, Scotland. I wonder if that is where the word Scone ( which you can have with jam and cream -see it in the photo above?
There are peacocks strutting around, one of them was this lovely white colour.

There were lots of pretty flowers in the grounds of the castle.

Scotland was exciting, I wonder where the pals are going to go next?  Perhaps you should keep checking back here for their next adventure which will be at the end of this month, it's to a very nice island near Greece, can you guess where this is??

Don't forget, you can leave a comment for the pals, they love to hear from you!!

ROME AT LAST

Rome was so exciting with the markets, this is a 'living statue' doesn't he look like a real statue?

The street artists have such talent

Leather goods are abundant but quite expensive.

Even the carousel was in Rome

Bunny Cooper spent a long time looking for this statue, he was told that if a coin was put in this pigs mouth Bunny would be lucky.

BEAUTIFUL FLORENCE, ITALY

Bunny Cooper really likes the doors in Florence, the have carved faces and flowers etc

There are some colourful goods being sold in the market place

The Pontevechio bridge in Florence has many shops for tourists

Can you see the bird flying along?

Bunny Cooper had to be carried up about a thousand steps to get to the top but the view was wonderful and worth the climb.

The sunset at the top of the square, it was a lovely trip, now we must leave to get the train to Rome next

BUNNY COOPER IN GENOA

Bunny Cooper made friends with this very sad looking lion in Genoa.

BUNNY COOPER IN TURIN, ITALY

Here is Bunny Cooper after his train journey, he is at the station in Turin-can you see the train behind him? It is a very fast train, and a nice red colour too.

Egyptian Museum-Turin

Do you know what these are?

Did you guess? These are called hieroglyphics and they are a language that was used for writing in ancient Egypt (when the pyramids were built). Bunny Cooper could not read them, though he did think that he recognised some of the shapes, like the bird.

Egyptian Statue

These are statues of special people who lived in Egypt many, many years ago.

What does this look like? Well, it's a cat. the Egyptians liked cats very much and when their favourite cat died they were prepared in a special way and wrapped up really nice with lots of decorations before they were buried. It was called a 'mummy',
Bunny Cooper thought that was really funny as it did not look like any mummy he knew.

Bunny Cooper was really tired and went to sleep in the museum.
